Research Overview
The MARCH Laboratory was established at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology in 2009 and relocated to Pohang University of Science and Technology in 2019. The current official name is MARCH Lab. Robotics and Bionics Lab.
At the MARCH Laboratory, we conduct pioneering research aimed at enhancing and expanding human capabilities through intuitive and immersive human-robot interfaces. Our laboratory is divided into two main groups: the MARCH Robotics Group and the MARCH Bionics Group. Our goal is to develop cutting-edge technologies in pursuit of the MARCH Surrogate project, which aims to develop surrogate robots that allow humans to project their presence anywhere by remotely controlling a robot that moves like their own body but with enhanced strength, mobility, and dexterity. This involves predicting human intentions for robot movement and intuitively restoring sensory experiences from robots to humans.
The MARCH Robotics Group focuses on addressing high-level challenges in robotics, including manipulation, task planning, mechanism design, control, and artificial intelligence, to develop autonomous robots capable of operating in extreme environments where ensuring human safety is particularly challenging. Meanwhile, the MARCH Bionics Group concentrates on developing innovative technologies such as bionic signal-based motion intention prediction, gesture recognition, robotic prosthetics, and the analysis and restoration of neural signals and sensations using invasive neural interfaces, specifically designed for amputees.

Research Overview
At the MARCH Laboratory, we engage in research aimed at enhancing and expanding human capabilities through intuitive and immersive human-robot interface. Our laboratory is divided into two main groups: the MARCH Robotics Group and the MARCH Bionics Group. Our goal is to fuse cutting-edge technologies in pursuit of the MARCH Surrogate project, which aims to predict human intentions for robot movement and restore the sensory experiences of robots to humans in an intuitive manner.
The March Robotics Group focuses on solving high-level challenges in robotics, including manipulation, task planning, mechanism design, control, and artificial intelligence, to develop autonomous robots capable of operating in extreme environments where ensuring human safety is a complex task. On the other hand, the Bionics Group concentrates on developing innovative technologies such as sEMG-based unsupervised motion intention prediction, biosignal-based gesture recognition, robotic prosthetics for amputees, as well as analysis and restoration of neural signals and sensations using invasive neural interface technology, especially designed for amputees.
